Pickup and Transportation: The Fun Bus
First off, we reccomend you take the Fun Bus. It's a party on wheels. We will pick you up at your resort, and bring you along to Consuelo. We have regular service from Punta Cana, and La Romana. If you are coming from Santo Domingo, we can arrange a special pickup for you.
The bus is jam packed with goodies to keep you busy and entertained. Moreover, one of our guides will be on board, ready to answer any questions. We hope you have many! The trip from the Punta Cana is about an hour, and it will by. All along the road, there are interesting things to point out and we will happily do so for you.
Arrival at Consuelo: Full Immersion Visitors
When you arrive at Consuelo, we will will have a welcome drink for you at the "Casa de la Cultura" (The House of Culture), the pride and joy of the Consuelo community.
Begun in 1997, the Casa de la Cultura is a magnificent building, the result of Consuelo standing out in the arts, and having won a competition at the national and international level. This is especially impressive given the humble origins of the town, which was a batey, housing the Cocolo sugarcane workers. Consuelo "started from the bottom and now we're here."
Today, the Casa de la Cultura is both a music, theatre and arts school as well as a the site of the "Sweet Museum". We will do a brief tour through there, which will help you understand what you are about to see as we walk through the town and down to the old sugarcane docks, and to the Baseball Field site at the Ingenio down by the river.
Should the heat get to you, feel free to dive into the cool waters of the River and enjoy a different swimming experience in the Dominican Republic.
By now, the trip should have taken about 3 to 4 hours. It is at this time that the baseball game will begin. If you are hungry, don't you worry, there will be plenty of food at the Stadium.
Our tickets include food. Alcohol is included as with and additional fee should you wish to partake. We will be happpy to serve you either way.
The Baseball Game
It's game time! Or as they say down here "Es hora de jugar!"
The game will be played at the Ingenio, the old sugar mill. The field is beautiful, and the view is amazing.
The teams are exceptional as well and all teams are made up of former professional baseball players. We play to win, and all games are registed as part of the league.
Beyond baseball, here's where the Bachata Baseball League gets interesting. We have a live band, and we play music between innings.
The teams themselves will be doing art, music and comedy in an attempt to win over you: the crowd.
You will get a chance to vote for your favorites, as they compete on an artisitic and competitive level.
The game will end around 3 pm, and we will have a closing ceremony. Should you wish to meet the players, we please come down to the field and say hello.
After the Game: The Trip Back
Visitors are often sad to leave Consuelo! We are sad to see you go as well.
You will return back in the Fun Bus, and your guide will be there for any questions.
You should be back at your resort around 4:30-5 pm, in time for sunset and dinner.
Should you wish to come back, we will welcome you with Open Arms! Every single game is different, no outcome is for sure, and we are always looking for new ways to entertain you.
We pride ourselves on our constant innovation, and we will be so happy to have you back. Do consider an even more immersive experience next time!
